Greetings ~ Much Love and many prayers to everyone out there! Well we hit the pow wow trail again heading for the Outer Banks, North Carolina *hereafter referred to as OBX
Behind the Outback ~ A Nomadic Journey
Act IV
Scene I
7 August 2009 ~ We chose to leave the campground a little later, because we could not get there to the pow wow grounds until after 4pm. BIG MISTAKE!!!! OMG the Traffic!!! We only went about 160 miles, however it took almost 6 hours!!! We went through Norfolk and drove down the OBX over the bridges and tunnels. It was nice, Lots of roadside attractions to look at and take pics, but Sheesh a loooong drive. Anyways, y'all might like the travelling pics a little better this time, I spiced them up! I think the coolest thing I saw was a place called Diggers Dungeon ~ Jeez I wish we coulda stopped there!! I absolutely Love Grave Digger the Monster Truck. It's a Monster Truck garage, Gift shop, looked like you could get a ride, AND they had Diggers Diner!
As I say, the Drive was Interesting, but Long. As we got closer to the playground of the Filthey Stinking Rich ** hereafter referred to as FSR** , we Really saw some sites.
We set the camper up when we got to the grounds, which were on an airfield. Got some supper and Crashed!!
Scene II
8 August 2009 ~ Most vendors showed up today to set up. We are sooo spoiled about getting set up the day before. But I got the last little thing in place just before the pow wow began. Ken was the Keeper of the Circle here and Ric Bird was MC. Ken & Becky, dancers we met last year at several pow wows down here, were camping all weekend here so we got to spend some time with them.
After the pow wow, we explored the OBX and got a munch. Reminded me of Wildwood, NJ a bit, without the boardwalk. I was on a mission, as y'all have seen I am collecting different "Euro Decals" for the camper from places we stay in. On the drive down I had been seeing the OBX ones and wanted to get one, BUT then i noticed they had one where the O was a Hurricane Icon LOL. So I found a gift shop that had them to add to the collection!
Scene III
9 August 2009 ~ Sunday was pretty slow, but this entire pow wow was very spiritual and we found many more friends and family here.
We will definitely go back to this pow wow again. And perhaps I will be able to get some time for fishing next time!! The campgrounds were rather expensive, so we travelled about 100 miles to get a better deal to stay over for a couple nights.

11 August 2009 ~ Bear Grass, NC ~ Booked a pow wow in Suffolk, VA this coming weekend. Tomorrow we will head to a Campground close to there and hunker down for a weekly rate. Will work on uploading the videos today and chillin'
Much Love and many prayers
