Gathering at Central Florida Fairgrounds Orlando

    Sent: Tuesday, November 14, 2006 6:01 AM
Subject: Fw: American Indian Community Center of Florida
    Greetings everyone,
Following is a series of forwarded e-mails describing a gathering of the Native American Community this coming Sunday November 19th at the Barnett Park next to the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando. We were going to have our family gathering this Saturday the 18th, so we need to decide to have our gathering at this ' Picnic in the Park'. Please read the entire event information at the bottom of this e-mail.

    Hi All,

I'm forwarding this information to everyone that we think might be interested in putting aside our differences as groups and joining together as the Native American community in Central Florida to support this effort. As many of you know, Native Americans don't get the recognition that we deserve in our community. Showing that we can band together to support a common cause will only help our standing as a contributing presence in Central Florida.

The picnic next Sunday will offer us a chance to relax and enjoy an afternoon of fellowship with Native American music, dance and storytelling. Barnett Park is located next to the Fairgrounds.

    Hope to see you there!

    Greetings!

We have some exciting things to share and would like you to do the
same. Our November meeting will be at Barnett Park in back of the
Central Florida Fairgrounds where we are having a free "Picnic in
the Park" with music, storytelling and games. It will be on the
3rd Sunday of this month, November 19th, from 12 throughout the
afternoon. Just bring a picnic and a plant for the plant walk. We
have reserved Pavilion 3 where there are tables and 2 grills under
cover, a volleyball court, and a playground for children. Would
love to see there! We have contacted the Orlando Sentinel, several
neighborhood papers, and TV stations, as well as Valencia and UCF
to advertise our event as a public service.

In January, our meetings will resume at the Downtown Orlando Public
Library on the 3rd Sunday of every month from 1-3 pm. We have
chosen that time and day to be convenient esp. for those who
    travel.

We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your
invaluable support! Please feel free to contact Betty Hinds at
    407-298-1434 or me at 321-274-7255.

    Thundering Spirit Family

I have finished the Thundering Spirit Family web site, with the exception of a few tweaks here and there ;)

The Thundering Spirit Family has had a Pow Wow in the first week of March for 4 years now. It is located in Mount Dora Florida at Renningers Flea Market. It is always a wonderful time with great performers attending, such as Arvel Bird, Tommy Wildcat, and Alan Mose Jr. This coming year we will have a family of 3 Generations of Aztec Dancers also.

Our host drum is the Family Drum Singers a Spiritual group who take their Traditions seriously. And we will have a guest Drum the ~ Bird Chopper Bird Family Drum ~ this coming year also.

Mark this on your Calendar for a great Pow Wow experience!

    It's A Good Thing

Hey Y'all - I was really having a bad day already this morning, and I received this in my e-mail.  I just wanted to share it, because it was good timing for me.  This is a picture of Nan, she crossed 2 years ago and that is when the family troubles really started.  She was my inspiration, she taught me everything I know about flowers & gardening, sewing, and  being humble (and she continues to teach me).  She, in my eyes, was a Saint.  I Love You Nan.

Fran - Give us closure.  You only make your own path more troubled.

Hope all is well with everyone..... I was asked by a very special friend as

part of her religion class to send this to twelve people who I

thought would DO this. I hope I chose the right twelve. Please send

this back to me. (You'll see why.)

In case anyone is interested, Saint Theresa is

known as the Saint of the Little Ways. Meaning she believed in

doing the little things in life well and with great love. She is also

the patron Saint of flower growers and florists. She is represented by

roses. May everyone who receives this message be blessed. Theresa's Prayer

    cannot be deleted.

REMEMBER to make a wish before you read the poem.

That's all you have to do.

There is nothing attached. Just send this to eleven

people and let me know what happens on the fourth day. Try not to break

this, please. Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost

but a lot of reward. (Did you! make a wish?) If you don't make a wish, it

    won't come true.

This is your last chance to make a wish.

    St. Theresa's Prayer:

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received,

and pass on the love that has been given to you....

May you be content knowing you are a child of God...

Let this presence settle into your bones,

and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.

Now, send this to 11 people within the next 5 minutes. And remember to Send this back...I count as 1...you'll see why.

Suggestion: Please copy and paste rather than forward

and use the Bcc: option to send to multiple addresses

    ~Firefighters~ September 11, 2006

As we all remember the tradgedy 5 years ago, I want to specifically

mention the Firefighters. My husband and I were firefighters for 8 years

and it was THE most fulfillng thing we ever did in our lives. We were

responsible for protecting the community we lived in and we did it

extremely well. So well, in fact, that they made is both Captains.

When we went to our first pow wow here, they had us come into grand

entry behind the veterans (Police, and EMT also). We were welcomed and

thanked along with them.  We were very honored and then realized that we

were considered warriors too, although the general public had only come

to accept this after September 11, 2001.

I want you to remember all those firemen who risked and gave their

lives before 9~11 also. I don't mean to take away from the meaning of the

veterans from battles  over seas, I just need people to realize that

    there are warriors here...

                                        ...at home...

...fighting the everyday battles to protect the people

This is a picture of the engine we mostly responded on, when we were a part of the company.  The Oceanville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 was established in 1924.  It is one of five companies that comprise the Galloway Township Fire Department.

The company is 100% volunteer, non-profit, and is on call 24/7/365.  Our members are ALL UNPAID PROFESSIONALS and certified by the State of New Jersey. We do not receive any money for the many hours of serving you.

The next Ham & Oyster Dinner fund Raiser is Saturday November 4, 2006 from 4:00pm ~ 8:00pm

If you are in the area, I can testify theses will be the Best Oysters you will ever taste!

    Hey Y'all,

Ok, my cell phone went into the toilet *literally*  My brother tells me that was the number one killer of cell phones when he was in the desert - LOL  Anyways, I got me a new one and I will be able to use the Yahoo from there - Yeah!

eBay is raising their fees again, so I am trying to decide whether to write my own web site store, or stick it out - I know I could probably design the page and all, but, it's a lot of work - And, it seems that people head to eBay first when they are looking for stuff - I have been on ebay for 4 years and the store pretty much manages to pay for itself to keep running

    Invasion of Airspace

We all have our own Airspace and there are times where we allow others to share it. However, there are some that have not centered their own Airspace and therefore, they must Invade others. Those of us who Understand are forced to carry with us a realization, that we cannot speak. For, if we speak it, you might not Understand anyway. And yet, instead of looking within and to Him, others struggle to Steal a way that is not meant for them. When it is time for The Stand, will you be centered enough to suffer the weight of millions who will not?
Look at the wing-flappers, who are centered in their own way throughout time. Without a care, we are constantly Invading their Airspace, which commonly results in devastation of their kind. Now, NASA must remove a food source for the Peace Eagle in that territory ~hence, breaking the food chain in the Circle of Life ~ and this is for the 'Better' of mankind??!!?? Six Directions Traders

I have a few auctions running, but ebay is slow this time of year.  The shop is open, and I am listing more items every week into the inventory.  I am enjoying my down time to get re-organized for the fall Pow Wows, and come up with more Unique Creations.

Don't forget to visit Beautiful Dove's shop at Renningers Twin Markets on the weekends in Mt. Dora, Florida too.

    Happy 6~6~6 Y'all

The Cast of the Brigantine Castle had a reunion "Halloween House" in 1991, at the Atlantic City Racetrack (horse track), New Jersey. I had done my own make-up and costuming, it was something new I thought I would try, I had never been a 'Devil' before. We scared around 10,000 people that week.

Mother's Day Pow Wow ~ Dade City 2006

This Pow Wow was great, as always. I didnt take many pictures, as I was very busy with visitors. This turned out to be quite the family reunion. We made several new friends also. This is a picture of Grandfather Mingo and his brother. Grandfather traded me for a choker that I had made, I was very honored that he chose something that I had made. I appologize, but I did not get the name of his brother, who is a wonderful man.

I will be working very hard this weekend on re-opening the eBay store. I have some new listings of product and I need to start putting the fall pow wow's on the Yahoo calendar. I have been peyote stitch beading anything that is standing still. There will be some nice beaded feathers coming up in the store, and I have one in particular that I am going to auction off for the St. Joseph's Lakota School. We donated quite a bit of money in Cherokee, when we visited, so I need to raise some extra cash for the Lakota School.

On the trip to Kentucky, it had come to me (from a little Grandpa) to make Bola Ties. If anyone has any ideas for how I should make them, please feel free to let me know. I am assuming this is why i have been on a peyote stitch kick.

    Much Love & Prayers

Olive Hill, Kentucky Pow Wow 2006

    Greetings All

We returned from our journey on friday night - The Olive Hill Kentucky Pow Wow was wonderful - There were 5 drums, and they recorded a session on saturday to have cd's for sale on sunday - Kentucky was very beautiful and the locals were very nice - We met many new friends, and I would Highly Recommend this Pow Wow to anyone who is in the area at the time - If you look at my photo's you will see the Olive Hill folder - They had gotten my husband and I to participate in the broom dance, and we got to see the switch dance for the first time - After the Pow Wow was over we travelled to Cherokee to spend our vacation time there - We usually go in the winter, so it was a very special treat going in the spring - There were flowers everywhere and we met more wonderful people - We toured the museum, hiked in the woods, and played Tribal Bingo - and I won $100 Yea! Of course most of it got donated back to the museum gift shopImage

Next up is the Mother's Day Pow Wow in Dade City Florida this weekend, most of the family will be coming either saturday or sunday - this is always a great Pow Wow, so anyone in the area, come on out and Pow Wow with us!

    Little Wolf

I would like to announce the adoption of a little girl into our family.  Little White Wolf is 2 years old, and an American Eskimo (small breed).  She has been through a lot, but she is Home now.  Our Chow mix, Little Bear, has been a great big brother thus far.  We had given them both a treat, and Little Wolf took hers out in the back yard and buried it.  I had never seen a dog do this before, she must have been mistreated Image It's OK though, she is part of a loving family now.

    Thundering Spirit Pow Wow 2006

Thundering Spirit Pow Wow was awesome! Anyone who can plan to come next year will not be disappointed, there are no politics but plenty of spirituality. The picture above depicts Painted Spirit gifting a spear he had made to Ne-Me Wind Dancer. There were Hawks and Eagles flying over head throughout the weekend. Children's Day yeilded 3 more bus loads of kids than had been expected. More pictures are in my Yahoo Photo's. Thank you to all who came out to meet us and see the shop first hand, this was also the year anniversary of my shop out in public. Take a look at the online shop on eBay ~ Six Directions Traders. I am working to restock the shop now.
